1. Camelback Mountain is a favorite with more experienced hikers. It is a popular attraction, though, so it can get crowded. It is named Camelback Mountain because its shape resembles that of a camel lying down. It is the highest peak of the Phoenix Mountains.

2. The Phoenix Art Museum has been open since 1959 and is is one of the largest general visual arts institutions in the Southwest. The collection includes over 17,000 works and spans the centuries. Free every Wednesday 3-9pm and First Fridays 6-10pm.

3. The 40-year tradition of Scottsdale ArtWalk takes place every Thursday evening from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. in galleries along Main Street and Marshall Way in downtown Scottsdale. Once a week, the galleries extend their hours and show off the work of outstanding artists. ArtWalks typically feature show openings, artist demonstrations, food samplings and more!

5. Goldfield Ghost Town in Apache Junction; Walk down Main Street, explore the many shops and historic buildings. Tour the historic Mammoth Gold Mine and visit the Goldfield Museum. Pan for gold then take a ride on Arizona’s only narrow gauge train. You’ll also get to witness an old west gun fight performed by the famous Goldfield Gunfighters!
